What is a Freshman?

You are considered a freshman applicant if you meet the following criteria:

  • First-Time College Student: You have not previously attended a college, university, or post-secondary institution.
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent: You have earned a high school diploma, GED, or TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion).
  • No Prior College Credits: You may have taken college courses during high school (e.g., College Now or AP credits), but you have not yet enrolled as a degree-seeking student in a college.

Freshman vs. Transfer

If you’ve attended another college or university after high school, you’re considered a transfer student, not a freshman.
