Application Process
Apply to Medgar Evers College:
- Visit the CUNY.Edu/admissions website and complete the SEEK section of the CUNY Freshman Admission Application (Questions 17-20).
Conditional Acceptance:
- If you receive a letter of conditional acceptance through the SEEK Program, fill out the SEEK Program In-Take Form:
- Submit your SEEK application via email to seek@mec.cuny.edu or in-person at the SEEK Office, located at 1637 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11225, Room S205.
Accept Admission Offer:
Financial Aid Applications:
- Complete the Financial Aid Student Application (FAFSA) at fafsa.ed.gov
- Complete the New York State TAP application at hesc.ny.gov
Conditional Requirements for SEEK Program Admission
Complete SEEK Application:
- Ensure all parts of the SEEK application are filled out and submitted as instructed.
Income Eligibility Screening:
- Participate in income eligibility screening and submit any required financial documentation electronically via CUNY Student Forms at CUNY Financial Aid Student Forms or in-person at 1637 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY, Room S108.
IRS Verification of Non-Filers:
- Submit the IRS Verification of Non-Filers Letter if you or your parents are non-filers.
- Students or parents with any untaxed income (such as Supplemental Security Income, Social Security Disability, Public Assistance, Pension) should submit proof as documentation for economic screening https://www.cuny.edu/financial-aid/student-forms/.
Attend SEEK Orientation and Summer Academy:
- Attendance is mandatory for both the SEEK orientation and the SEEK Summer Academy.
Important Notes
Early Application:
- Not all eligible students are accepted into SEEK; apply early to increase your chances of acceptance.
Admission into SEEK is Conditional:
- Meeting the above requirements is necessary for full admission into the SEEK program.

Request More Information:
Fill out the form to request additional details about the SEEK program and eligibility requirements.
- Submit the CUNY Special Programs Transfer Request Form to verify your participation in a previous opportunity program. Submit the form to seek@mec.cuny.edu and copy our SEEK Transfer Coordinator, Dr. Jewel James at jjames@mec.cuny.edu. Obtain the form from your previous college opportunity program office or counselor.
- After receiving your Medgar Evers College admission offer, commit to Medgar Evers College via your CUNYfirst account.
- Meet with a financial aid counselor to confirm you submitted all appropriate documents. Also list Medgar Evers as a college choice on FAFSA and TAP.
- Meet with a SEEK counselor before the semester begins to review that your transcript evaluation is completed and to finalize registration
