Do you have big ideas about how local government should work, or how non-profits can better serve their communities? Adding the Public Administration Minor to your degree is a smart way to learn the how-to of public service!

This minor teaches you the essential management, policy, and leadership skills needed to run organizations that serve the public good. You’ll get a foundational look at Public Service, then choose courses that interest you—whether that’s Fiscal Administration (managing budgets), Non-profit Management, understanding Public Policy, or even exploring Global Institutions. This minor is perfect for anyone wanting to boost their resume with skills that are always needed by cities, agencies, and community groups!

Requirements

Required Core Course (3 Credits)

You must complete the following course:

  • PA 103 – Introduction to Public Service and Administration

Elective Courses (Minimum 9 Credits)
You must earn at least 9 credits (usually 3 courses) by selecting from the following wide range of Public Administration courses. This lets you customize the minor to your interests!

Course Focus Examples (Choose 3 Total)

  • Law & Justice: PA 150, PA 260, PA 235, PA 440, etc.
  • Management & Policy: PA 205, PA 225, PA 340, PA 325, etc.
  • Non-Profit/Global: PA 200, PA 285, PA 335, etc.
