Are you curious about how the laws and courts really work? Adding the Criminal Justice Minor to your degree is a smart way to gain essential knowledge about the entire justice system, no matter what your major is!
This minor will give you a strong foundation in Criminal Law and the vital role of Constitutional Law and Civil Liberties in society. You’ll get to explore topics ranging from how police interact with communities (Community Policing) to the inner workings of our courts and the challenges of crime management (Judicial Process and Crime and Punishment). This powerful knowledge can boost your career in fields like social work, political science, journalism, or any career where understanding legal processes is key!

Requirements
As part of your degree, you must fulfill the CUNY Pathways general education requirements, which consist of the Common Core (Required and Flexible) and the Medgar Evers College Option. These courses provide the essential quantitative, scientific, and socio-cultural literacy that complements your technical training.
Complete ALL of the following Courses:
- PA 150 – Introduction to Criminal Law
- PA 260 – Constiutional Law And Civil Liberties
AND
Complete at least 2 of the following Courses:
- PA 235 – Criminal Justice and Its Processes
- PA 250 – Parole and Probation
- PA 275 – Community Policing
- PA 300 – Public Bureaucracy and Disaster Management
- PA 365 – Crime and Punishment in Urban America
- PA 440 – Judicial Process and Court Systems
