Medgar Evers College Predominantly Black Institutions (PBI) program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Predominantly Black Institutions Title III Discretionary/Competitive grant to establish or strengthen programs for low-income or first-generation college undergraduate students enrolled at Medgar Evers College, leading to a bachelor’s or associate degree. The purpose of the Predominantly Black Institutions Competitive Grant Program is to support Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs) to establish or strengthen programs in the following areas:
- Improving educational outcomes for African American males.
- Building capacity for remote learning
- Addressing the Impact of COVID-19 on Black or African American students and supporting student retention and re-engagement.
- Increase students’ retention and improve graduation rates
- Promote activities that support students’ development of academic goals
- Faculty work closely with students to promote learning and enhance professional skills needed in their field of study
