Along with the College-wide General Education requirements, the B.F.A. will be a liberal arts curriculum with an interdisciplinary approach. Graduates will have the experience of taking courses from inside and outside their respective focal area. There is one concentration: Media and the Performing Arts. In every instance, media and technology will be an integral part of the student’s pursuit. Each student is required to take 42 credits of University-wide General Education courses, as well as 42 required departmental core credits of which 18 credits are at the lower level and 24 credits at the upper level. Within the student’s area of emphasis 18 credits are required and 12 credits are distributed equally between suggested Electives and 6 Free Electives, thus a total of 120 credits which is the standard requirement for a baccalaureate degree at CUNY. Notably during the junior and senior year, students must be placed with the appropriate agencies to complete their internships as a requirement for the B.F.A.
