You’re not alone: Medgar Evers College hosting housing rights forum

Are you a student that is personally a step away from being unhoused? Maybe your family is struggling to make rent or in a dispute with a landlord?

You’re far from alone.

Alongside New York City Councilwoman Crystal Hudson, New York State Senator Zellnor Myrie and a plethora of local advocacy and resource outlets (including our own Transition Academy), Medgar Evers College is hosting a resource fair tabbed as “Tools for Tenants” on Thursday, April 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 1638 Bedford Ave.

This event is aimed at aiding anyone facing eviction, trying to keep up with their rent, arrears, unsafe living conditions, discrimination or landlord disputes, this free event will teach attendees how to advocate for your rights, navigate Housing Court and apply for emergency assistance.

This evening of education and empowerment for New York City tenants will equip you with the tools you need to respond to a crisis. Attendees will be able to speak 1-on-1 with community-based organizations, listen to presentations from housing experts and enjoy light refreshments.
