Professor Gregorio Mayers, Esq.

Professor Gregorio Mayers, Esq. Bio, Department of Public Administration, Medgar Evers College, CUNY

Gregorio Mayers is an Associate Professor of Government and Law in the Department of Public Administration. He serves as the deputy chair and chair of the criminal justice concentration. In addition, he is the College Ombudsman.

Professor Mayers was born in the Republic of Panama and migrated to the United State as a teenager. Shortly after arriving in New York, he attended Medgar Evers College where he graduated with a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Public Administration.
Upon completion of his degree, Professor Mayers enrolled in law school and completed his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree and returned to join the faculty after a few years in private practice. Professor Mayers identifies as an Afro-Latino and serves on the board of the Panamanian Day Parade in New York and as a board member of several other boards and a charter school board.
Gregorio brings a wealth of knowledge in the space of law and policy having served two-terms as a senior advisor to former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. In addition, he has successfully represented clients seeking public office as well as judicial candidates seeking to be on the Bench. Professor Mayers resides in Brooklyn with his wife and two children.
