I felt confident, more skilled and knew that I had improved my math skills after I completed a month of CUNY Start. Before I attended this program I never really knew math, I wasn’t good at it, never liked it, and felt that it wasn’t presented to me in the right way from previous classes. So after that first month I was confident and strong. I was able to understand math better because of the way Miss Deja taught and presented the lessons. Math is a very hard subject that needs flexibility, time and understanding and Miss Deja took her time step by step and made sure every student understood. Also the class work, the class activities and homework boosted my confidence and skills in math. I did my homework by myself, on time, and I finished everything. After the CUNY Start program I feel confident in doing what I’ve learned by myself.

When I first entered CUNY Start, it was a whole new chapter for me. I remember back in my old school days math was never my subject. I would always pass with a low score or not pass at all. When I arrived in CUNY Start all of that changed for me. I remember completing my first exam with Ms. Deja and my score was high. After this I immediately knew that my math skills have improved and this was just the beginning of what was to come in the future. To all the current CUNY Start students, I know it may seem tough now but in the end, all of your hard work will pay off. The road to our success will always be fruitful as we meet new people and challenges that will increase our abilities to do well.
