It’s Official! Franklin Avenue and President Street Subway Stations Renamed to Honor MEC!

On Thursday, October 1, 2020, MTA New York City Transit Interim President Sarah Feinberg joined elected officials and Medgar Evers College Provost Augustine Okereke for a tour and celebration of the two subway stations that now include our name: Franklin Avenue–Medgar Evers College and President Street–Medgar Evers College.

Thanks to the legislative efforts of New York State Senator Zellnor Myrie and MEC alumna Assemblymember Diana Richardson, Governor Cuomo signed this bill into law last year. This act will serve as a continual reminder of the essential role that Medgar Evers College plays in Brooklyn’s civic and educational life.
