Commencement 2025: Intern creates must-watch video that shows the moment grads are Medgar Made

By Nick Masuda | nicholas.masuda31@mec.cuny.edu

It’s interesting to see the world through the eyes of a student, particularly one as talented as Jada Clayton.

Above, you’ve probably already watched her handiwork, about 2.5 minutes of a storytelling masterclass — all brought to you by a senior that will walk that very stage on May 30, 2025.

The Biology major has spent the past year working with the Office of Communications as an intern, courtesy of the college’s Brooklyn Recovery Corps program that places dozens of students in paid internships, both on- and off-campus.

Clayton isn’t just a budding videographer, she’s also a two-time conference champion with the Medgar Evers College track-and-field program, most recently winning three medals in shot put, hammer throw and discus at the CUNYAC Championships on Randalls Island.

Clayton has also produced videos such as:

Celebrating Andre Evans Jr.’s 1,000th point on the men’s basketball team, leading to nearly 12,000 video views on Instagram (the best in school history).

Conceptualized and executed on a hype video to help introduce the 2024-25 indoor track teams as they set out to defend their conference titles.

Did a “day in the life of” video for our track teams as they battled early wake-up times and late-night arrival at home.

She also helped the school launch TikTok by collaborating in the filming of this video.

@medgareverscollege Give it up for Medgar Evers College Brooklyn Recovery Corps interns!!!Internships at our college not only give students an opportunity to learn the work environment but to display their talents 👏🏽🙌🏽 #college #collegelife #nyc #bk #cuny #medgareverscollege #collegeevents #fypシ゚viral #medgarmade ♬ Afrobeat Party – Sunny Vibes

Clayton is one of the many BRC interns that will walk the stage on May 30, leaving Medgar with more knowledge, connections and experience than they walked into.

But not only did the BRC aid them, students such as Clayton made sure their mark was felt for the generation of interns to come behind them.
