Be the Change You Want to See in the Criminal Justice Field

Medgar Ever College (MEC) is excited to launch its new Associate of Science (AS) degree in Criminal Justice. The program offers a culturally competent curriculum that speaks to the experiences of all income, racial, gender, and ethnic groups, eventually leading to a new criminal justice paradigm. Upon completing an AS in Criminal Justice, students can seamlessly enroll in the Bachelor of Science degree program in the Department of Public Administration without adding additional time to their degree of study or begin a career in law enforcement. Depending on their career objectives, students may continue to the BS in Public Administration with a concentration in Criminal Justice or one of the department’s five other concentrations – Law and Public Policy, Nonprofit Administration, International Administration, Community Development, and General Public Administration. Many law enforcement organizations, such as the NYPD, NYFD, and the Department of Corrections, require an AS degree as part of their pre-screening requirements. MEC’s AS in Criminal Justice is a strong foundation for preparing a new generation of law enforcement officers and officials. Additionally, this degree can be accelerated.

The Department of Public Administration faculty brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the criminal justice field, exposing students to real-life situations and current practitioners. Throughout this program, students will gain an overview of the criminal justice system, including courts, criminal law, law enforcement, police-community relations, and ethics.
