2025-26 Student Government Association President Faith Diggs

Candidate for Bachelor of Science in Biology
For Faith Diggs, the Medgar Evers College 2025-2026 Student Government Association President, helping others is one of those innate components of her personality dating back to childhood. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology on a pre-med track, Faith will be walking across the commencement stage with a 3.5 GPA in her back pocket. Moreover, she’s doing it as a third-generation CUNY student.
The middle child who falls between an older brother and younger sister, the Medgar Evers College experience runs deep for the Brooklyn native, who attended the Medgar Evers College Preparatory School and secured her associate’s degree as a Smart Scholar while she was at it. Earning her bachelor’s degree at Medgar Evers College was a foregone conclusion for Faith who felt the Crown Heights campus “…was accessible, a community and it fit right into my life.”
During Faith’s time at Medgar Evers College, she was quick to embrace opportunities to not only be a Cougar Country cheerleader, but to participate in a number of extracurricular activities including the Science Club and the Crystal Queer Club. Serving in a number of political roles also played into Faith’s interests with the path to becoming SGA President starting with a role as a Day Vice President prior to that. Part of that learning experience found the aspiring pediatric surgeon being part of several curriculum and Student Life committees, attending a number of legislative conferences and working with the Albany Black Caucus.
Those interests were triggered by that inner need to always aid other and to “…help this campus as much as I could.” On the academic side of the coin, Faith’s favorite classes were anatomy and physiology along with botany. Adding to the positivity for her was being able to learn under the tutelage of Professor Shanta Outlaw of the Chemistry and Environmental Science (CES) Department.
In hindsight, Faith admits her Medgar Evers College experience made up some of the best years of her life because for her, it was not just a school but a home. The combination of resources and a caring community opened her eyes to how much was available to help the future medical school student and her peers. What Faith drew from this chapter of her life that she wants to pass onto anyone thinking of matriculating at Medgar Evers College is for that person to ultimately immerse themselves in the day-to-day and learn about how the campus runs and the people that are part of it.
