This program focuses on the intersection of health, culture, and society. Coursework covers Public Health Epidemiology, Health Equity, Program Planning, and Research Methods. Crucially, the degree includes two required Professional Practicums to provide hands-on experience in real-world health settings.

As part of your degree, you must fulfill the CUNY Pathways general education requirements, which consist of the Common Core (Required and Flexible) and the Medgar Evers College Option. These courses provide the essential quantitative, scientific, and socio-cultural literacy that complements your technical training.

  • Core Health/Sociology: CHE 100 CHE Care of Self and Others, CHE 150 CHE Strategies for Community Well-Being, CHE 200 Foundations in Community Health Education, CHE 203 Cultural Issues in Healthcare, CHE 220 The US Healthcare System, CHE 230 Health Equity and Socioeconomic Disparities, CHE 240 Understanding the Human Experience, CHE 300 Health Education Program Planning & Evaluation, CHE 302 Introduction to Public Health Epidemiology, CHE 400 Health and Behavior
  • Research & Practicum: CHE 331 Applied Research Methods in Community Health Education I, CHE 431 Applied Research Methods in Community Health Education II, CHE 435 Professional Practicum I (4 cr), CHE 436 Professional Practicum II (6 cr)
