Major
Description
The B.S. in Business is built upon a General Business Core Curriculum, which ensures graduates possess a strong foundation in managerial and analytical knowledge. Unlike specialized degrees (like Accounting or Finance), the B.S. in Business provides a broad, interdisciplinary approach, preparing students for diverse roles in the private, public, and non-profit sectors.
Key areas of study and specialization often include:
- Management: Principles of leadership, organizational behavior, and human resource management.
- Finance: Introduction to financial markets, corporate finance, and investing.
- Marketing: Essentials of promoting products and services, market research, and consumer behavior.
- Economics: Understanding macro- and micro-economic forces that affect business decisions.
- Accounting: Foundational principles of financial and managerial accounting.
- Law and Ethics: The legal environment of business and ethical decision-making.
By allowing students to select elective courses in areas like Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Economics, Finance, and Computer Information Systems (CIS), the B.S. in Business enables graduates to tailor their academic path to specific career interests while maintaining the flexibility to adapt to changing business environments.
