Our Mission
The Department of Mathematics provides an engaging and intellectually rigorous curriculum that seeks to assist students in preparing for careers in which mathematics is directly or indirectly involved and to foster an appreciation of the vital role of mathematics in society. In all courses, the department encourages critical thinking and emphasizes problem-solving, enabling students to acquire and strengthen essential skills for their science and liberal arts courses. This mission is grounded in and advances the college’s overarching commitment to social justice, equity, and empowerment, as articulated in the MEC Strategic Plan 2023-2030.
