The mission of the Office of Academic Emerging and Instructional Technologies at Medgar Evers College is to increase online education and digital instructional technologies and, in the process, achieve excellence in doing so. One of our focus is producing the best online program that results in positive student experiences. In Fall semester 2016, the college introduced, (35) thirty-five standardized online/hybrid courses developed by faculty with the assistance of instructional designers. Also introduced were several digital instructional technologies such as lecture capture, e-content authoring, and e-conferencing. These two achievements would form the foundation and set the course for an online program. As the development process progressed, faculty also received professional development training at the college’s faculty institute, as a complementary strategy to understanding the pedagogical course design aspect that was involved.

Working with faculty subject matter experts and collaborating with our students to provide us with feedback was an ever-evolving challenge to develop courses that meet or exceed accreditation standards, conforms to best practices in online learning and contributes to positive student learning outcomes. The aspect above is the paramount goal of our department.
