Franzeska Sampson

Franzeska Sampson is the current field education director and professor at CUNY Medgar Evers College in the Social Work Department. Dr. Sampson received her BSSW from Medgar Evers College, MSW from Yeshiva University: Wurzweiler School of Social Work, and Doctorate from Grand Canyon University. Her research interest explores the coping mechanisms from internal and external supports to mitigate workplace stress for social workers and case managers working in family shelters in New York City. Prior to being an educator, Dr. Sampson spent several years working with youths in foster care and homeless families with a population that experiences complex traumatic histories. She engages and volunteers in various community-based activities to provide services for vulnerable populations. She is a community advocate and strives to empower individuals to live better lives. She is a member of the National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW), The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Atongi and Friends Basic Needs Foundation, and community liaison for Full Gospel Assembly Queens. To create a healthy work and personal life balance, Dr. Sampson practices time management and self-care, as these are critical components of life. Her coping strategies include creating arts and crafts, walking, music, prayer, and writing.
