David Ahn, Ph.D. – Professor-Deputy Chair/Computer Information Systems (CIS)

Dr. David Ahn is a seasoned professor with extensive industry experience. He has more than 26 years of teaching experience in Computer Information Systems (CIS), Computer Science (CS), and Computer Engineering at various institutions. He is an expert in developing curriculums and has established and administered the CS major and minor programs. Also, his strong tech expertise, leadership, and business acumen led to several global banks’ C-level positions and tech advisor roles for VCs and start-ups. In 2017, he joined CUNY Medgar Evers College (MEC) as a tenured Professor of CIS and currently serves the department as Deputy Chair. Since joining MEC, Dr. Ahn has won major grants and awards worth about $3.4 million and implemented the CUNY 2x Tech program. He also developed the curriculum for a Data Analytics minor and a Global Studies major. His current research interest is AI’s applications in cybersecurity, fintech, and data science. He has frequently been invited to speak at professional associations and organizations, often winning best presenter awards. Dr. Ahn earned his Ph.D. at CUNY, Masters and Professional Engineer at Columbia University, Bachelors at SUNY at Stony Brook, and Fintech – Future Commerce Certificate at MIT.
