MEC Approved for Associate Degree in English

The State Education Department has given MEC approval to offer an Associate in Arts degree in English.

The Associate in Arts degree program will help students acquire proficiency in the English language and the elements of style. Courses will be offered in basic composition and creative writing.

In addition, the curriculum will have the benefit of MEC’s four-year degree program in English and the resources of MEC’s renowned Center for Black Literature.  The new program will give students a solid foundation in English.

“The addition of this degree program continues to build on the notion that students are interested in a variety of academic programs, many of which will allow them to continue as four-year students here at Medgar Evers College.” said President Rudolph F. Crew.

“We are pleased to be able to offer new degree programs that allow us to meet the varied needs of our students,” said Senior Vice President & Provost Augustine Okereke. “This degree program further facilitates Medgar Evers College’s effort to fulfill its mission in the central Brooklyn community.”

Registration for the Associate in Arts degree program in English will be open to students beginning in Spring 2018.
