AB1 Building will be temporarily offline on Monday, February 9, 2026, due to freezing temperatures causing the sprinkler to malfunction resulting in flooding from the third floor to the basement. All classes scheduled in the AB1 Building will be held remotely. All other buildings are open for regular operations. For students enrolled in AB1-building classes who need access for their remote instruction, there are computers available in the computer labs that will enable you to logon to your class.

Childhood Education, BA (Online)

Department of Multicultural Early Childhood and Childhood Education

Program Overview

Become a Teacher—100% Online

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Childhood Education is a four-year journey that prepares you to teach students from 1st Grade through 6th Grade.

This online program gives you the “best of both worlds.” You will become an expert in a subject you love (like English, Math, Science, or History) while also learning the best ways to teach children from the comfort of your own home. Even though your classes are online, you will still get real-world experience working in local elementary schools near you. By the time you graduate, you’ll be ready to get your New York State teaching license and start your own classroom!

Major

Description

In this major, you aren’t just a student—you are a teacher-in-training. You will start with “Liberal Arts” to learn about the world, and then you will pick a “specialty” (like Math or Science) to master.

What to Expect:

  • Real Classrooms: You will complete “Clinical Practice.” This is like an internship where you work with professional teachers in a school near you to get hands-on experience.
  • Modern Skills: You’ll learn how to use technology to make online and in-person lessons fun. You will also learn how to help children with different learning needs or disabilities.
  • Test Prep: We help you every step of the way! We offer online seminars to help you pass the New York State teacher exams (like the EAS and CST).

Why Choose Our Online Education Degree?
