Latina/o/x Voices: Transforming the Academic Landscape

Medgar Evers College Latino Heritage Month Committee presents Latina/o/x Voices: Transforming the Academic Landscape, a CUNY-wide Interdisciplinary Symposium. Activities Include:
- Opening Remarks from President Ramsey, John Gutierrez of the CUNY Center for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies. Keynote presentation by Marilu Galvez (President & GM of WABC) and a poetry reading by Irene Vazquez (EOJ Auditorium)
- Latino Documentary Film Fest. Movies include La Operacion, Pa’lante, Siempre Pa’lante and The Borinqueneers (EOJ Auditorium)
- Informative and multi-disciplinary panel and roundtable discussions on issues that matter to the Latina/o/x Community featuring esteemed faculty from across CUNY. (AB1 and Charles E. Inniss Library)
- All-day Tabling by our community partners, NYC Parks, CAMBA, PRIDA, El Puente of Williamsburg, Brooklyn College, etc. (AB1 Lobby)
- Latina/o of the Year Award’s Ceremony honoring actress, dancer, singer/songwriter Daphne Rubin-Vega (In the Heights, Rent, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Dolores Roach in Empanada Loca, and more), and Borinqueneer, Sgt. Julio Feliu of the 65th Army Regiment (Korean War). (EOJ Auditorium)
