I was born in the Bronx, New York and my parents are from the Caribbean: Trinidad and Jamaica. I was always interested in music since I was eight years old. I started playing trumpet at that time. Then at ten years old, I switched to drums. When I was a senior in high school, I started playing the flute. During my undergraduate college years at NYU, I added the soprano and alto saxophone to my instrumental studies. I went on to major in music and psychology. At Teachers’ College Columbia University, I received my Master’s Degree in Music Education. Subsequently, I went on to perform and tour with many great iconic musicians in then field of Jazz. During the summer of 2015, I performed with NEA Jazz Master and Doris Duke Foundation recipient Dr. Randy Weston for the Jazzy Jazz Series at Medgar Evers College. Dr. Clinton Crawford invited my band to perform on August 19, 2016. I gave him my resume and I was interviewed for an adjunct position at MEC.
