I was raised in North Conway, New Hampshire but would often visit New York as a child. I became interested in reading literature as a way of escaping the confines of a small Northern New England town in the mid 1980’s. Later, I deepened my reasons for loving literature(s) and began working at Medgar Evers College in 2014 after teaching for a semester in Staten Island. My previous teaching/graduate work experience was at Ohio State University in the 1990’s where I learned about literary theory and Composition Studies.
