Medgar Evers College is a place where people are introduced to ideas and uncover the world while discovering themselves. We make news and host newsmakers, with events like the annual Conference on Environmental Issues and the Global Lecture Series. We have hosted such renowned guests as Ta-Nehisi Coates, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Former Secretary Hillary Clinton, DeRay Mckesson, Donna Brazile, Governor Cuomo, and Zadie Smith.

Our Mission

In keeping with the philosophy of The City University and Medgar Evers College, we believe that education is the right of all individuals in the pursuit of self actualization. Consequently, the College's mission is to develop and maintain high quality, professional, career oriented undergraduate degree programs in the context of liberal education. The College offers programs both at the baccalaureate and at the associate degree levels, giving close attention to the articulation between the two year and the four year programs. The College has a commitment to students who desire self improvement, a sound education, an opportunity to develop a personal value system, and an opportunity to gain maximum benefits from life experience and from their environment.

SoulFest Sept 9

The international student population of Medgar Evers College and the borough of Brooklyn gather, in the closed-off streets to MEC campus, to share their culture.Delve into the melting pot and fill up on the flavors of the diaspora, featuring classic local dishes, specialty cuisines from ethnic neighborhood restaurants, and the creations of numerous inspired chefs at SoulFest! Our annual Central Brooklyn festival has food to tickle your taste buds and music to soothe your soul, with live performances from many genres—Salsa, Hip Hop, Gospel, Funk, Soca, and Reggae!
