What to do Once Abroad
Study abroad is your chance to discover a whole new way of life and perhaps create yourself in a new way. Try new things, meet new people, go to places you have never gone before. This is your chance to expand yourself personally, professionally and academically. Take advantage of every moment you spend in your host country!
Maximize Your Time Abroad
You will learn new things about yourself. You will find that your classmates have different study methods and have different views on subjects you might take for granted. You will learn from them, as well as from your professors. It might be tempting to hang out only with your fellow Americans. Keep in mind that this is your chance to fully explore a different culture. Get out there and immerse yourself in all that your new surroundings have to offer! Try speaking and using the local language. The local culture will appreciate your efforts and your language skills will most definitely improve.
While you are away from Medgar Evers campus keep in touch with the Study Abroad Office!
Even though you are far away in another country remember that we are always here to help. You might decide to enroll in courses other than the ones listed on your Study Abroad Approval Form. If so, email your academic advisor for course approval and copy the Director of Study Abroad at firstname.lastname@example.org on this email. We can help with any issues that might arise while abroad such as academic, housing, or personal concerns you feel are not being addressed by your campus’s on-site staff. It is also wonderful if you keep in touch so you can share your experiences. We love hearing from you and your fellow colleagues at Medgar would enjoy hearing from you as well.
