Supplemental Educational Services
The Centers for Youth Supplemental Educational Services (SES) at Medgar Evers College provides support and resources necessary to increase the positive academic outcomes of New York City Public School Students eligible as outlined in the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act.
SES at MEC provides customized learning plans to help students on their path to academic success; we provide academic tutoring in English Language Art, Reading, and Math; opportunities for one-to-one mentoring; on-site services at participating schools.
Student incentives to reward outstanding performance encourage high student attendance, and build-up student's self esteem; and progress reports are provided throughout the course to keep parents abreast of their child's performance.
We foster an ongoing process that enables children, adolescents and their families to meet their educational needs. Centers For Youth SES assist youth in recognizing and realizing their potential. Centers for Youth SES enable those most vulnerable to societal disadvantages to overcome barriers to learning.
We accomplish these objectives by delivering supplemental academic and enrichment activities, as well as resources for both participants and parents.
