East New York Campus Satellite

Medgar Evers College’s East New York Campus Satellite
The East New York Campus Satellite (ENY) is an extension of Medgar Evers College located inside Public School IS 166 (George Gershwin) at 800 Van Siclen Avenue Brooklyn, New York 11207. From its inception in October 1991, ENY has operated using tax levy funds/student technology fees and various internal college department budgets to offer college credit courses weekday evenings and Saturdays for the Spring and Fall Semesters to Freshman, Readmit, transfer, e-permit, and international students attending MEC who reside and/or work in neighboring communities.
ENY has a dedicated state of the art 20 seating capacity computer lab, network printer and a Smart Board that are available to enrolled students.

The ENY Campus Satellite is in the process of providing College Now students with a select group of college courses, and offering Summer and Winter intersession courses by the Spring 2014 semester.  The ENY Campus does not have a GED class but administers GED predictor tests, and coordinates for individuals Pre GED sites for instruction and the students who pass the predictor test are referred to MEC Main Campus for the official New York State GED examination.    The ENY campus satellite has partnership with the Principal of IS 166 and the UFT Charter School, in which IS 166 provides the use of the auditorium and gymnasium to conduct MEC open admission recruitment houses.
The ENY Campus satellite in turn assists IS 166 and the UFT Charter School by printing fund raising and graduation tickets, brochures, and making referrals to MEC’s Admissions, Adult Continuing Education, and the School of Professional & Community Development (SPCD) sponsored events.

It is estimated that since the ENY Campus satellite’s opening in October 1991 to April 2013, more than 7500 MEC academic classes and 40 MEC grant GED classes, have successfully ran servicing nearly 1500 students.
