Darius Movasseghi, Ph.D.	On behalf of Dr. Edison O. Jackson, President Medgar Evers College, Vice President Fontaine Davis is handing over the Dean’s Distinguished Service Award 2008 to Dr. Movasseghi.  Dr. Mohsin Patwary, Dean of the School of Science, Health and Technology is on the right.

Dr. Darius Movasseghi joined Medgar Evers College in September 1, 1972 as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics.  He was promoted to full Professor in February 1984.  Dr. Movasseghi became the Chairperson of the Department of Mathematics in July 1995.  He has resigned from his Chairperson’s position in December 2009.  During his leadership the department has established B.S. degree program and it grown tremendously currently with sixteen faculty serving over 1900 students.  Dr. Movasseghi has been involved numerous college and University-wide committees, faculty senate and PSC-CUNY.  He is the first recipient of the Dean’s Distinguished Service Award.
