Students who are interested in any of the above listed careers should endeavor to meet with the advisor or any member of the pre-professional committee from time to time, especially during registration time to insure that they are consistently moving along the right path. Students should meet with the members of the committee for information about MCAT and DCAT exams preparation and dates.
Medical School Application Deadlines vary from school to school. We recommend that the applications should be in by October of the year preceding admission. Prospective applicants should endeavor to meet regularly with the pre-med advisor so as to insure that their files are up to date with all the necessary materials required in order for them to get a composite letter of recommendation that will accompany their application. They should also request letters of recommendation from their different professors to be sent to the pre-med advisor as these letters will be used in preparing the final composite letter of recommendation to be written by the pre-med advisor.
The pre-professional committee also has the responsibility for placing undergraduates for summer research internships either locally with the biology faculty or externally in other institutions within or outside the United States. This committee also maintains the articulation agreements that the biology department has with other institutions.
