Northeast Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate
Medgar Evers College is a partner Institution in the Northeast Alliance at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
UMASS/Amherst is the lead alliance institution for the program, which is supported through a grant from the National Science Foundation with matching funds provided by various units within the University.
The program recruits students from MEC and other partner institutions, who are interested in going to graduate school to obtain a Ph.D. in a science, mathematics or engineering (SME) discipline.
Students accepted into Ph.D. SME programs at Alliance Institutions are offered financial support and supportive mentoring to ensure that their graduate school experiences are rewarding. Once they have received their Ph.D.s, graduates are encouraged to consider entering the professoriate.
