The Department of Nursing


The Department of Nursing offers programs leading to:

  • Bachelor of Science for registered nurses (RN-BS completion program)
  • Associate in Applied Science (A.S.S)
  • Traditional track
  • LPN to RN Transition track
  • Certificate in Practical Nurse

The programs are designed to

  • Provide opportunities for academic advancement in nursing education
  • Foster life-long learning
  • Reflect eh awareness of the holistic health care needs of the residents of Central Brooklyn and New York City
  • Ensure the graduate’s readiness for entry into the rapidly changing inner city urban health care delivery system
  • Prepare the graduate for the rapidly changing health care delivery environments and higher education in nursing.

Beginning fall 2009, all CUNY nursing departments require applicants for admission to the clinical phase of the programs to provide documentation in one of the following categories:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Permanent Residency
  • International Student F1 Status
  • Granted Asylum, Refugee Status, Temporary Protected Status, Withholding of Removal, or Deferred Action Status by the U.S. government.
