School of Science, Health and Technology

Welcome to the School,

The School of Science, Health and Technology (SSH&T) enrolls over 40% of students in the College. We are housed in a 195,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art building with two multi-million dollar core research facilities in the areas of cellular-molecular biology and chemical analysis.

In recent years, we have grown significantly in several critical areas including student enrollment, graduation, faculty-hiring and faculty receiving research grants. We have engaged our faculty students and alumni in SSH&T’s various intentional intervention programs including: Student Research Competition, Minority Health Issues Seminars, Women in Science and Math Seminars, Dean’s Honor List Award, Student Town Hall Meetings, Student Mentoring Support Initiative and Annual faculty-student-staff recognition.

Our students have made research presentations in conferences and won prizes. We have continued promoting the academic and professional success of our students through a supportive network, which includes: tutoring, topical workshops, individualized pre-professional advising, research internships, volunteer experience placements, invited lectures, faculty mentoring and student club activities.

The School aims to further increase its student enrollment via: local high schools in partnership with the MEC pipeline initiative, hiring additional research active faculty, provide more in-house research experience to our students, and extend degree offerings to include additional career-oriented programs in allied health areas that have high employment prospects.

We welcome you to our website and invite you to explore it more and to learn about our programs.   Please do not hesitate to contact the Dean’s office or specific department offices.  We will be honored and happy to assist you.
