The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) currently accredits 632 colleges of education with nearly 100 more seeking NCATE accreditation. These institutions produce two-thirds of the nation’s new teachers, school specialists, and administrator graduates. These institutions also use NCATE standards to help ensure quality in all programs that prepare professionals to work in schools from preschool to higher education.
On November 17, 2006, following a meticulous review process, the Medgar Evers College Education Department received its first accreditation from NCATE. Recently, programs in the Education Department were once again reviewed and received reaccreditation for continuous improvement on April 24, 2013. The Education Department is committed to preparing change agents for classrooms, schools and communities, who Educate to Liberate!
