The Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant assists doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals in providing direct patient care in a variety of healthcare environments. As a CPCT/A, you may perform some or all of the following tasks:

  • Provide basic patient care including bathing, feeding, toileting and ambulating patients
  • Acquire and distribute patient care supplies
  • Change bed linens and process dirty linens properly
  • Perform safety checks to keep patient rooms clean and clutter – free
  • Maintain clear paths in hallways clear and return equipment that is no longer in use
  • Obtain EKG readings
  • Perform phlebotomy procedures

Courses

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA):  A CNA works under the supervision of an MD, PA, RN or LPN, providing assistance to patients with daily tasks. Upon completing 120 hours of training (90 classroom hours followed by 30 clinical hours), you will be able to perform skills such as: feeding, bathing, grooming, dressing, exercise, movement and patient call signal. $1195

Phlebotomy: Phlebotomists work diligently in labs, hospitals, and medical offices collecting blood and handling blood specimens. Upon completing 27 hours of anatomy/physiology of the circulatory system, aseptic techniques/procedures, communication, medical ethics, and safety procedures of blood collection, you will be ready for the certification exam (additional cost) and begin your new career. $495  

Electrocardiogram (EKG): Learning the basic cardiovascular terminology, anatomy and physiology, recognize cardiac arrhythmia and properly place ECG leads and proper maintenance to obtain an accurate 12-lead EKG. $495

CPR: Learn AHA CPR and AED on adults/children/infants. You will receive a Health Care Provider certificate card upon successful completion of the class. $85
