About the School of Business
The School of Business at Medgar Evers College has been fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs (ACBSP) since 2003. Of the five business schools in CUNY, Medgar Evers College is one of the two that is accredited. The School of Business is an intimate educational environment that affords close mentoring relationships between faculty and staff, in which approximately 70% of its students are matriculating in career focused baccalaureate programs.
The vision for the School of Business is to be an institution in which students are endowed with the education, skills, and resources that are necessary to lead Brooklyn’s renaissance from both the public and private sectors, as well as at the grassroots level. The collective philosophy of the faculty provides that the foundation of a quality business education must be Transformative, Relevant, Enlightening, & Empowering.
Message from the Dean

The degree program is based on a general business core curriculum that equips graduates with a strong foundation in business management. After completing the business core curriculum, students may select upper level courses in accounting and obtain a B.S. in Accounting.
The mission of the Department of Business Administration is to prepare students for professional careers as entrepreneurs, managers and marketing professionals. The department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Applied Management (B.P.S. - A.M.) and an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration. The goals of the degree programs are to provide essential knowledge and skills, and develop competencies that graduates need to: enter business careers; enter graduate and professional schools of their choice; become lifelong learners; and become professionals in business organizations and contributors to the communities in which they reside.
Computer Information Systems
The mission of the Department of Computer Information Systems (CIS) is to prepare future professionals who use information technologies to develop systems that meet the needs of governments, nonprofits, and businesses. These future CIS professionals are endowed with the ability to take overall responsibility for managing information systems and computing resources for an entire organization.
The Department of Computer Information Services offers four programs of study options in Computer Information Systems including: Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree; an area of emphasis or a minor.
Economics and Finance
the Department of Economics and Finance is to provide high-quality degree programs and service courses in economics and finance that: focus on teaching students current theory and practice; to conduct relevant; original research that supports our teaching activities. Accordingly, the Department offers students at Medgar Evers College a course of study that is well grounded in the body of economic and financial theories and practices that are employed by businesses and governments.
The Department of Economics and Finance offers students at Medgar Evers College an educational foundation in the body of economic and financial theories and practices that are employed by businesses, governmental entities and nonprofit institutions. The Department also prepares students for careers at business and public organizations in economic analyses; financial management; and for positions in the private or public sector; for work and study leading to professional certification; and for graduate study.
The mission of the Department of Public Administration is to prepare students to be highly trained and informed leaders and managers in a rapidly changing society. Students receive in-depth training in different concentrations that allows them to be creative thinkers, change-agents and problem-solvers needed to serve efficiently in the government, non-profit, and corporate arenas.
The Public Administration program offers a strong foundation in public managerial theory and practice, public service, public policy, international administration, ethics, and information technology. Students will acquire the knowledge and skills to understand and critically analyze past, present and future trends in Public Administration and how public policy and programs can change the world.
The Department is the only 1 out of 75 academic programs in the country to offer an undergraduate degree in Public Administration. The Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree, an Associate of Science degree, and a minor.
