The Vice President of Operations & Chief of Staff is charged with the following responsibilities:
  • Serves as an ombudsman on behalf of the President;
  • Oversees and manages the internals operations within the Office of the President;
  • Consults with senior officers for the effective operation of the College;
  • Serves as senior policy advisor and trouble-shooter for the President;
  • Serves as member of the President’s Cabinet;
  • Briefs the President on student, staff and faculty concerns;
  • Responds to requests and coordinates activities and projects related to the Office of the President;
  • Builds coalitions and develops activities that foster better communications throughout the College;
  • Serves as the coordinator of forums, meetings, social activities, receptions, etc. at the President’s residence;
  • Advises the President on the priorities of the Office of the President and assists the President in directing the College’s continuous quality improvement effort.

Fontaine D. Davis is from Fresno, California. He received his B.A. from the University of Redlands and M.S. from California State University, Los Angeles. He has completed coursework towards the Ed. D. at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick. Prior to becoming Vice President of Operations & Chief of Staff, he held positions as the Director of the Freshman Year Experience, Dean of Students, and Vice President of Student Affairs at Medgar Evers College.

Ms. Lisa Young is the Executive Assistant to the President and has been at Medgar Evers College since 1986. Her responsibilities include dealing with diverse administrative, faculty and student concerns in the Office of the President. In addition, Ms. Young maintains the President’s daily schedule of appointments and oversees his travel arrangements. Prior to assuming her present position, Ms Young has also worked for 12 years as the Executive Assistant to the Provost and Dean of Academic Affairs. She is currently pursuing a B.S. degree in Computer Applications at Medgar Evers College.
