Admission Requirements
For admission into the Baccalaureate Completion Program, a candidate must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with current New York State license and meet all other college admission requirements. On admission, all RN’s are granted sixty (60) credits toward the BSN degree.
Academic Standards
Students in the program are expected to pass required nursing courses with a grade of “C” or better. To graduate, a student must achieve a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.5.
Note: All the required nursing credits in this program must be earned at Medgar Evers College.
Retention and Progression
The student in the BSN program must earn a “C” grade or better in each required nursing course, and in each general education course. In addition, the student must maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.5 in order to maintain her/his standing in the program. Any student with a GPA of less than 2.5 for two consecutive semesters will be required to withdraw from the program. The student’s GPA will be based only on credits earned as part of this program.
Each student is expected to complete the program in no more than five (5) years; otherwise, the student will be required to withdraw from the program. A student who is required to withdraw from the program should meet with her/his academic advisor for appropriate guidance. On entering the program, each student is assigned to a faculty/academic advisor.
Requirements for Graduation
In addition to sixty (60) credits earned in this program, the BSN student must earn a total of 120 college credits to qualify for graduation. All BSN students must also pass the College Proficiency Examination (CPE) to qualify for graduation. The graduate will be awarded the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

Community Involvement
In order to facilitate input from political, social and health facilities, the BSN Advisory Council is convened annually to discuss the focus of the program and elicit comments and ideas based on experiences with our graduates. Members of the Advisory Council are drawn from leadership of our clinical agencies, political and social organizations in Central Brooklyn.
BSN Clinical
Clinical agencies that are used in program are:
- Health and Hospital Corporation (HHC) Health Facilities
- Visiting Nurse Service of New York
- Concord Services for the Elderly
- Interfaith Medical Center
- Lutheran Medical Center
- Downstate Medical Center
- The Methodist Hospital
The list of clinical agencies used by students in the BSN program may change periodically since contracts have to be renewed and the use of other facilities may be needed at anytime.
