Improve the recruitment, preparation and retention of highly effective teachers for our urban schools.
Develop and sustain a meaningful partnership with colleges, community school districts, business organizations and
cultural institutions.
 Improve
the outcomes in high risk schools and the retention of effective teachers
in these schools.Provide technical assistance to enhance Network goals and objectives. ObjectivesEngage in ongoing conversations and collaborative problem solving to recruit, develop, support and retain effective practitioners to raise student achievement at the college and K-12 level.Support teacher preparation programs that address the mandates of the New York State Education Department and Board of Regents, and National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Strengthen connections within colleges and universities between their School of Education, Liberal Arts and Sciences. Increase the pool of experienced practitioners to serve as mentors prior and during student teaching. Provide technical assistance to enhance learning process and further project objectives. Share professional development opportunities and resources. Facilitate team teaching between Network schools and college faculty. Increase career support for para-professionals. Enhance home-school-community connections. |
