Instructional
Media Services:
Media Services provides the faculty and students of Medgar Evers College and the surrounding
community with audiovisual services to support classroom instruction and community activities.
There is a media software collection of over 20,000 items that include films, video cassettes,
audio cassettes, LPs, CDs, and mixed media sets. Some of these materials can be previewed
on the premises while other items can be borrowed for home use. Transparencies and other
audiovisual materials can also be produced. The Department also handles equipment such as
the VTEK system, which can enlarge print up to 60 times the original size, and Reading Edge
Kurzweil Reader for visually impaired patrons, as well as software for speech synthesis, Braille
printing, and computer-text enhancement.
In addition, through the Consortium for Educational Communications and Technology
(CECT-CUNY), Media Services has access to over 5,000 additional educational films and videos
available in other CUNY units.
Reservations for use of equipment and/or audiovisual materials should be made at least two work
days before show date. Last minute requests will be accommodated as staffing and equipment
permit. The important thing to remember is that a wealth of non print materials is available
through MEC Media Services. Holdings are listed in the CUNY+ online catalog in the reading room
on the main level as well as in the Media Services area. |
