Clinical Practicum Experience
The clinical practicum (formerly Student Teaching) is the capstone experience of the BA degree program. The department is cognizant of the complexity of teaching and the challenges inherent in preparing individuals to enter the teaching profession. As such the clinical practicum is designed to provide comprehensive experiences for candidates. The clinical practicum experience occurs over two semesters (Clinical Practicum I (Fall)/ Clinical Practicum II (Spring)).
All candidates are required to take all parts of the New York State Teacher Certification Examination (NYSTCE) before they reach graduation (program completion). To ensure that candidates reach this goal, the department offers a series of professional development workshops.
