Telecommunications and Videoconferencing

The Telecommunications and Videoconferencing Group (TVG) provides design, maintenance, and system management services for the college's voice network and other communications infrastructure. This includes telephone, telephone lines, and voice mail processing. TVG provides support in these areas for the entire campus community of students, faculty, staff, and administration.

The voice network is based on the Nortel Meridian telephone switch. Offices are equipped with several varieties of telephones including the M2006, the M2008, the M2616 and the M3904. To access user guides to these telephones, please consult our online Telecommunications Help Center.

To request telephones, parts, telephone extensions, voicemail accounts and other TVG services please email your request to helpit@mec.cuny.edu or call the Help Desk at (718) 270-6262.

To access the voicemail systems in the SSB Building, Bedford Building and Carroll St. Building dial 5186 for voicemail access from the AB1 Building dial 6020.

Please Note: Request for extensions, voicemail accounts and voicemail password resets must be in writing to helpit@mec.cuny.edu and the department head must be cc’d.
