Dear Alumni,

As we come to end of academic year 2007-2008, and our 37th Commencement ceremonial activities, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support of the Annual Fund and other alumni activities. Your contributions have helped support a wide range of opportunities and activities, including awarding nine students with Medgar Evers College Educational Foundation Scholarships.

The Foundation is supported primarily by the generosity of our corporate and community partners as well as our alumni who give back to the College. In order to continue to provide for the ongoing needs of our students, we need you to continue to give. Your gifts make an immediate impact on the lives of our current students, and for that, we give you our heart-felt thanks.

In addition, your philanthropic giving has had a direct bearing on Medgar Evers College’s status as a premier institution of higher education. Your generous support will help the College to continue raising academic standards and improve the overall quality of student life on campus. Remember, no gift is too small to make a difference, and all gifts are of equal importance to us. If you wish to donate electronically, please visit our website at www.mec.cuny.edu/giving.

Finally, this year’s Eighth Annual Legacy Award Gala and Dinner will be held on Thursday, October 16 at the New York Marriott at Brooklyn Bridge Hotel. The alumni honoree for this year is Dr. Gail Reed-Barnett (Class of 1990). Other honorees are Mark D. Settles, Managing Director, JP Morgan Chase; Moet Hennessey, USA; and the Rev. Dr. Paul Smith, Executive Director, Healthy Families, Partner with the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health & Long Island College Hospital, and Pastor Emeritus, First Presbyterian Church. Entertainment will be provided by Cuba Gooding, Sr. former lead singer of The Main Ingredient. Click here to buy tickets.

The Office of Alumni Relations will continue to work with you to increase alumni giving and participation by improving our communication, solicitation, and stewardship. Towards that end, please be sure that the college has your current contact information on file, and remember to send us your stories/accomplishments for publication in our ME Magazine to Christopher Hundley, Director of Communications and Web Services at chundley@mec.cuny.edu, or Cynthia Nakpodia-Ribeiro, Assistant Director of Communications at cribeiro@mec.cuny.edu.

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations.

Sincerely,
Director of Alumni Relations
