About MEC Ed Tech Center

The MEC Ed Tech Center is a resource and production facility supporting students, faculty and staff in the training and use of hardware and software used in the academic environment. The Ed Tech Center is the training location for the Blackboard and Digication learning platforms as well as CUNY First and CUNY Portal authentication and service. The goal of the Ed Tech Center is to enable and empower users to master the digital tools necessary for today’s academic environment. The Ed Tech Center also functions as a faculty development lab to facilitate development of digital course material and supports both Mac and PC operating systems. Training sessions and workshops for both group and individual users as well as special demonstrations of hardware and software are regularly scheduled for the technical and professional development of users. The Ed Tech Center is committed to assisting all users in developing and mastering the skills necessary to enhance modern education and to be productive and creative in the digital age. The Ed Tech Center is dedicated to developing, supporting and promoting conventional, hybrid and online learning at Medgar Evers College.

Software

The Ed Tech Center supports software outside of Bb including the Digication ePortfolio LMS, Camtasia Studio 9, a media production tool and Bannerfans a freeware banner creation tool.  ePortfolio can be used in conjunction with a Blackboard course or as a stand-alone Learning Management System (LMS) that gives users great flexibility in their course design. Camtasia Studio 9 is a sophisticated yet easy to use digital editing tool that can help improve the look, feel and comprehension of course material.
