Welcome to the Medgar Evers College Admissions office direct admissions webpage!

Please note that we are in the direct admission time frame. All applicants for the Spring 2013 semester, beginning January 28, 2013, must apply directly at the college. 

If you are solely interested in applying for the Fall 2013 semester (which begins in September) or joining us for the Summer 2013 semester, please log on to the CUNY web page and complete the online application.

Before you come to the Admissions Office please make sure that you have all the required documents listed below.  Without them we will not be able to process your application.

Documents Required for Direct Admissions:

Freshman Application
-$65 Money Order
Payable to: The University Application Processing Center (UAPC)

-Proof of High School Graduation OR

GED Completion
-HS Diploma OR
-Official HS Transcript w/Scores
(2250 Minimum required for Admissions)


Transfer Application
-$70 Money Order
Payable to: The University Application Processing Center (UAPC)

-Official College Transcript(s) from all institutions previously attended

Applicants with less than a Bachelor's degree
MUST also submit:

  • HS Diploma and Official HS Transcipt OR
  • GED Transcript w/scores (2250 Minimum required for Admissions)

Transfer applicants are considered for admisson with advanced standing if they meet the following minimum criteria:

Prior College Attended MINIMUM cumulative GPA
CUNY Colllege 2.0
Non-CUNY College 2.2

 Testing requirements
Please note that all freshmen are required to complete the CUNY Freshman Skills Assessment Tests in reading, writing and mathematics prior to registration. Applicants must be skill exempt for acceptance into a four-year degree program. Exemption is based on the applicant's SAT (500 or above in Math and 480 or above in Verbal), ACT (21 or above in Math and 20 or above in Verbal), the NYS Regents in English and Sequential Math II or III (75 or above) scores, or by passing the exams themselves.
All students who are not exempt (contact Testing Office at 718-270-4835 to inquire about exemptions) are required to complete the CUNY Assessment Tests in reading, writing and mathematics prior to registration.
Once you have completed your application, the Admissions office will provide you with testing information and schedule you for an upcoming test date. 

Proving residency in order to receive the in state rate of tuition
(These documents are not required for you to complete your direct admission application but until you have submitted the required documents you will be billed at the higher rate of tuition.)

All direct admit applicants must complete a three step process whereby they:

  • demonstrate they are U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, or other eligible immigrant status that may permit financial aid eligibility
  • demonstrate they have resided in NYS for the past twelve months

and

  • complete  the CUNY Residency form in oder to receive the lower instate rate of tuition

Required for registration:
Proof of Immunization
You must provide proof of receiving two doses of the measles vaccine and one dose of Mumps and Rubella vaccines.  (Does not apply to applicants born before December 31, 1956.)  Immunization records must be directly submitted to the Health Services office, room S-217, in the Student Services Building.
