The Buildings
and Grounds Department has the following components:
-
HVAC (Heat Ventilation and Air Conditioning)
-
Custodial
-
Maintenance
-
Laborers
-
Trades: Plumber, Electrician, Painter, Gardener and
Carpenter.
For your
convenience and understanding, an outline of working components
within the department are briefly listed and described below.
HVAC
This component deals with problems associated with with heating
and/or air conditioning. This unit is headed by Reginald
Outerbridge, located at the Carroll Street Facility Ext. 6009
and an Oilier, Mr. Daniel Shegryn, located at the Bedford
Avenue Facility, Ext. 4906.
CUSTODIAL
This component deals with housekeeping matters such as: sweeping,
mopping, dusting, vacuuming, shampooing carpets, headed by Mr.
Thomas Keyes at Ext. 6195.
MAINTENANCE
This component deals with repairing doors, windows, ceilings, floors
and walls. Also included in this units realm of expertise is the
installation of the doorstops, door checks, installation of bulletin
boards, ceiling and floor tile, securing typewriters to tables, and
replacing light bulbs. This unit consists of several personnel
headed by Mr. Johnnie R. Pullum at Ext. 6007.
LABORERS
This component deals with the upkeep of exterior surroundings of
both buildings; moving College personnel from one location to
another; rearranging of office furniture; setting up tables and
chairs for special events and routine activities sponsored by the
College; and removing of old equipment and/or furniture, and/or
supplies purchased by the College. Four Laborers make up this unit,
which is headed by Mr. Johnnie R. Pullum at Ext. 6007 or
Team Leader, Mr. Leo Williams, in the Bedford Avenue Facility at
Ext. 4904
TRADES

PLUMBER
Repairs broken urinals, unstop toilets and clogged drains, and
repairs water fountains, etc. Mr. Ian Moses heads this
unit under the direction of the supervision of the Chief
Administrative Superintendent, Mr. Reginald Outerbridge, ext.
6123.

ELECTRICIAN
Installation and repair of floor and wall outlets, Installation
of necessary wiring for telephone; installation and replacement
of light bulbs, Contact Mr. Carlos Berger at Ext.
6006.

GARDENER
Waters grass, trees and shrubs; cuts grass; prunes shrubs;
waters interior plants and maintains the grounds. Ms. Mary
Biscaino at ext. 4907.

CARPENTER
Builds cabinets and counters, repairs doors and windows, build
shelves, etc. 6006. Mr. Jimmy Gain
Now that you
are better acquainted with the functions of each unit, the following
procedure are provided for your assistance.
To request
services of a non-emergency nature, please complete the Service
Requisition Form. When completing the form, keep in mind the job
performed by each unit as outlined above, and the type of services
you require. Should you need services from more than one unit,
please fill out a Service Requisition form for each unit.
All work
orders must be signed by Area/Department head, work orders
submitted online should come from Area/Department head or
designee.
Upon receipt
of your request for services, we shall endeavor to render services
as quickly as possible. ONLY emergency requests should be
made via telephone. All request will be handled based on the order
in which it was received and/or the nature of the urgency.
Please be
advised that keys will be cut on Monday’s and Friday’s ONLY from
9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Emergency duplication of keys must be
approved by the Executive Director. Requests to unlock doors will be
addressed on an availability basis. Additionally emergency door &
lock repairs will be handled by an outside contractor once
notification is received by the Buildings & Grounds Department.
The Buildings
and Grounds staff looks forward to serving your needs as efficiently
