Web & Graphic Design Certificate Program

Are you ready to be accelerated into a career in web and/or graphic design?

Our Web and Graphic Design Certificate Program will help you gain skills in design, coding, composition and animation as they apply to web and print production. And, our integrated approach to rapidly developing a full spectrum of graphic design tools used by today’s web developers, print designers and interactive media producers will equip you to enter the digital workforce. Adobe CS6 software is utilized and basic computer skills are required.

Photoshop
You will be taught how to navigate around tools, menus, palettes, views, etc. to provide hands-on experience with the basic tools and options of Photoshop, the industry’s leading digital image editing application.  Learn the theories of graphic design while designing and producing several real-world projects. Textbook required; not included in price.

HTML 5 and CSS
Explore and understand how to create and change web documents using HTML, CSS, and HTML5. While HTML is he basic language of the web, HTML5 is the latest HTML web standard that offers flexibility, ease-of-coding, and powerful new features.  Similarly, CSS offers more sophisticated properties and elegant solutions for styling and animating elements. Purchase of a domain name is required; not included in course price.

Dreamweaver
Dreamweaver is a professional HTML editor for designing, coding and developing web pages and applications. Working in a single environment, you will learn to create, build and manage websites and Internet applications. Textbook required; not included in price.

Flash/Java Script/JQuery
Flash is considered the standard for rich Internet multimedia authoring while JQuery is quickly becoming a necessity.  You will create interactive, animated online presentations using powerful video, multimedia and application development features. Textbook required; not included in price.

In this optional class you will integrate all principles of design to create a portfolio.  The instructor will guide you with your project to achieve the best design portfolio possible.

Nonprofit Entrepreneurship Certificate Program

Starting a nonprofit requires a strong entrepreneurial spirit and the know-how to make your dream a reality.

The Nonprofit Entrepreneurship Certificate program offered through Adult and Continuing Education at Medgar Evers College will provide you with the structure and resources to make your nonprofit dream a reality by combining law, business concepts and social policies to enhance your ability to lead effectively. The only pre-requisite to enroll in the program is a High School Diploma or a GED. Each of the four courses listed below may be taken as stand-alone classes, but the Certificate will only be awarded upon successful completion of all four courses.

Introduction to Starting a Nonprofit
Learn the legal process of starting a nonprofit, including the purpose of bylaws, board of directors, and a mission statement.

Community-Building & Marketing Your Nonprofit
Learn to create a marketing campaign for nonprofits and execute a successful community outreach strategy. Writing a Business Plan
You will be guided through the process of preparing a business plan for your nonprofits or companies. To fulfill the fieldwork component of this capstone seminar you will present your new venture’s business plan to an audience.

Grant Writing Clinic
Crafting a winning grant proposal is both an art and a science. Get tips on identifying and writing compelling grants to fund your non-profit’s activities. By the end of the clinic you will have a draft grant proposal for your organization.
