Mission
The Office for Academic Transformation & Success (OATS), formerly the Academic Warning, Probation & Dismissal Office, was established to not only govern the College’s academic/dismissal review process of probation students; but also provide services that will viably assist students facing academic challenges in order to regain good academic standing within the institution. OATS is committed to devising and implementing programs based on the needs of our students through assessment.
At the end of each semester, the Office for Academic Transformation & Success (OATS) reviews the Grade Point Averages (GPAs) and credits accumulated for each student to determine their academic standing within the College. All students who are not in good academic standing, based on the required standards listed, are placed in one of the following categories of academic warning, probation or dismissal (candidate).
OATS is available to all students seeking information on how to academically elevate and transform themselves to increase their overall student success experience here at MEC. We are under the auspices, and located in the Student Advocacy & Support Services Center (SASSC) and look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals. To better assist you in your journey towards good academic standing, OATS provides several resources to support your academic success here at Medgar Evers College. Such resources include AIM 001 (Academic Improvement Seminar), Academic Prescriptions, Student Contracts, “Effective Learning Tools” Presentation, Assessments & Referrals and a Probation Student Survey.”
