Academic Probation Continuing students’ cumulative Grade Point Average that are less than the standard criteria listed below, are placed on probation and sent a letter notifying them of their academic status. In addition, students must meet with their academic advisor or a representative from the Office of Academic Transformation & Success (both located in the SASS Center) to establish a written academic contract for continued academic pursuits. The following criteria represent the university required cumulative GPA standards:
0 - 12.5 Credits 1.50 GPA 13 - 24.5 Credits 1.75 GPA 25 and over Credits 2.00 GPA
Students on Academic Probation will be required to: 1. Attain a semester Grade Point Average, equal to or above the minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 2.0. 2. Register for a restricted reduced course load as deemed by your academic advisor. 3. Register for an Academic Improvement (AIM) course, SEEK students would register for a Special Programs Academic Enhancement (SPAE) course. These courses are designed to assist you in increasing the possibility for academic progress and success during your educational pursuits. 4. Attend regular advisement sessions with your academic advisor. 5. Complete basic skills courses not completed and/or repeat courses not successfully completed.
If students on academic probation achieve a semester GPA that meets or is above the standard criteria, but do not achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 at the end of the semester, it is deemed that they have made satisfactory progress and may therefore continue on probation the following semester.
Students on academic probation who achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better will be removed from probation.
