The mission of
The Male Development & Empowerment Center (MDEC)
is to maximize the involvement of males in their community by
increasing their knowledge and understanding of self, promoting
leadership, encouraging educational and personal pursuits, and
enhancing their level of economic sufficiency.
To this end, MDEC
The Male Development & Empowerment Center has implemented the
programs, "Word Is Bond", a monthly dialogue designed to encourage
male-to-male communication, "Phat Pockets", a series of financial
seminars designed to increase the economic power of African American
and Latino men, "The Business of.", workshops and courses
specifically designed to impart practical knowledge about various
industries, and "Fathers Involvement Initiative", a program that
assists fathers in accessing services and resources to handle issues
pertaining to their parental rights. The Dr. Edison O. Jackson
Single Fathers Scholarship Fund will continue its support of
responsible and dedicated fathers as part of the Fathers Involvement
Initiative.
